Course Details

In this course, international learners will examine various leadership styles, philosophies, and theories with the intent to identify effective leadership practices used in Canadian law enforcement. Learners will develop an appreciation of the interdependent and contextual nature of exemplary leadership. As well, fundamental leadership challenges and practical applications will be explored within the context of a law enforcement environment. The concepts of leadership will be analyzed through the study of: management vs leadership; organizational culture; the leader-follower relationship; and individual values, beliefs, attitudes, and emotions.
