All graduates who plan to attend the ceremony MUST register themselves and their guests online on this page. We will let you know when registration is open for this event. If you did not receive an invitation to register for convocation, please contact your school.
Please arrive at the New Westminster campus at least 90 minutes prior to the ceremony time to check in. When you arrive on site, you will be given further instructions from our staff. It is very important that you are punctual to allow staff time to organize the graduands. For your security, we cannot house personal belongings. Kindly leave these items with a family member or a friend until after the ceremony.
Doors for guest seating will open one hour prior to the ceremony. Overflow seating will be available in the theatre where the ceremony will be webcast. Livestreaming of the event will also be available. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure preferred seating. Please note: There is no food permitted in the gymnasium or in the theatre. Parking is free at the New Westminster campus but limited.
Light refreshments will be served for graduates and their guests after the ceremony.
Students attending the ceremony will receive their official documents on the same day unless their documents were previously issued. Students who were unable to attend the ceremony will be mailed their documents within two weeks of the event so it is important that your contact information is always up to date. If you do not receive your documents within four weeks of convocation, please contact the Registration Office.
Indigenous graduands who wish to wear their traditional regalia, or elements of their regalia, are invited to do so. If you have questions about traditional regalia, contact the Office of Indigenization at Indigenization@jibc.ca. Professional graduands, such as Firefighters, who wish to wear their uniforms are welcome to wear these in lieu of the traditional gown provided.
Convocation is held at our New Westminster campus.

Spring 2024 Convocation - Frequently Asked Questions
When is the spring convocation ceremony?
We will be holding TWO spring ceremonies on June 13, 2024. There will be a morning ceremony and an afternoon ceremony. We are currently finalizing the details. Eligible students will receive further details by email in April. Please ensure that your contact information is up-to-date so you don't miss out.
Is there a fee to attend?
Yes, there is an $84 ($80+ GST) fee to attend convocation. You will be required to pay this fee in advance of the ceremony.
Can I choose which ceremony to attend?
No. You will be assigned to one ceremony and that is the ceremony you must attend.
Where is the ceremony?
The ceremony will take place in the gymnasium at the New Westminster Campus.
Is there a guest limit for the ceremony?
Yes. Each graduand will be allowed 2 guests.
Do I have to attend the ceremony to be graduated?
No. If you have successfully met all the program requirements by April 30th, you will be graduated.
If I cannot attend, will there be a way to watch the ceremony live?
Yes. The ceremony will be webcast. The link will be available on the convocation webpage on June 13th.
If my friends and family members cannot sign in on June 13th to view the ceremony, will they be able to see it later?
Yes. We will post the video on the convocation webpage as we do with all our historical convocation ceremonies.
Will I still receive my parchment?
Yes. Parchments will be mailed within 2-4 weeks following the ceremony so it is important that your contact information is always up-to-date. If your contact information is not up-to-date, this will delay getting your parchment to you.
What if I have outstanding fees owing?
Students with outstanding fees will not receive parchments until all fees are paid in full.

During JIBC's convocation, staff may capture photos and videos for archival, educational, and promotional use. By attending or participating, you agree to be photographed and/or video recorded. If you prefer not to be included, please move to the side before photography and/or recording begins. Please note that it will not be possible to exclude you from images and footage of you crossing the stage during the ceremony.
