Course Details
Participants will learn about the legal framework within which police officers and other law enforcement personnel must operate when conducting searches and seizures, including the constitutional, legislative and common law context. Considerable time will be devoted to learning the basic legal requirements to carry out lawful searches and seizures with and without warrant, and applying that legal framework to real life scenarios to prepare learners to analyze and articulate the legal rules for searching/seizing in the circumstances, and their factual and evidentiary basis for doing so.
