Course Details

This course is designed to educate and evaluate Driver/Operators in the use of Fire Department Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump. It is accredited by IFSAC and Pro Board and meets the requirements of Chapter Four & Five of the NFPA 1002 Standard on Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. Included in this interactive training is: Preventative Maintenance; Pump Theory; Theoretical Hydraulics; Fire ground Hydraulics; Class A & B Foam; Apparatus; Maneuvering; Defensive Driving on Public Streets; Water Supply; Relay-pumping; Drafting Operations; Supplying Sprinkler & Standpipe Systems; Pumping from Booster Tank & Hydrant and Flowing large volumes of water. A written and practical evaluation is required to ensure NFPA Standards are achieved. Successful students will have an appropriate mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to ensure the apparatus and personnel get to the scene safely and that the apparatus is utilized to its fullest potential. Upon request this course can be delivered to assist successful participants set up an in-house EVO program. A Fire and Safety Division EVO Evaluator must conduct practical & written evaluations to ensure IFSAC & Pro Board criteria are met. (Formerly EVO145;NFPA1002). Prerequisite:NFPA 1001 Level 1 (accredited) Applicable class drivers licence (class 1, 3 or 5), with air brake endorsement.
