Course Details

Learn about the structure and components of a SAR response, from pre-plan stage to incident review, including information regarding the BC Emergency Management System as it relates to Ground Search and Rescue. The necessary planning activities and key strategies and tactics used by SAR Management personnel before and during a search will also be covered, along with an overview of the roles and responsibilities in technical rescue operations. Learners will gain the knowledge and basic skills required to communicate with a two-way radio used in SAR responses, as well as develop an awareness of other forms of communication used in the field, including alerting devices.

This course is for members-in-training of recognized Search and Rescue (SAR) Groups in British Columbia. Please contact the Training Officer of your SAR Group for details of delivery.
