Course Details

Learn what it means to be a Ground Search and Rescue volunteer, including the types of activities you may be engaged in; the rights and responsibilities of a GSAR volunteer; safety and worker care provisions; and supports that may be available in carrying out your volunteer role. You will be introduced to the provincial SAR Safety Program and the SAR Provincial Operating Guidelines as the primary resources for safety measures required in the performance of specific SAR activities. You will also learn how to assess your response readiness and maintain a 24-hr ready pack.

This course is for members-in-training of recognized Search and Rescue (SAR) Groups in British Columbia. Please contact the Training Officer of your SAR Group for details of delivery.
