Course Details

Learners will enhance the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviours needed to provide effective leadership as a Fire Officer II. Learners will gain insight into conflict resolution, strategies for effective team development, learn methods for evaluating and maximizing member job performance, and assisting assigned crew members with personal and professional development planning.

This is one course in the JIBC Fire Officer program intended to meet the NFPA 1021 Standard progressing through the second level of Fire Officer Qualification, Fire Officer II (supervisory/managerial). The following areas of responsibility will be covered: human resource management, community and government relations, administration, inspection and investigation, emergency service delivery and health and safety.
