Course Details
An increasing number of organizations are requiring supervisors, senior staff, and managers to conduct internal investigations. Public complaints, critical incidents, and allegations of harassment are just a few of the situations that can give rise to such investigations. While few managers are trained to conduct these investigations, failure to conduct the investigation properly can jeopardize the entire organization. This course is for experienced managers and other senior staff who are called upon to conduct internal investigations and have no prior training or experience in conducting such investigations. Issues related to the conduct of such investigations within an existing labour/management agreement will be addressed. At the end of the course, participants will be able to conduct interviews for investigative purposes; identify, document, and collect relevant evidence, and present the results of the investigation in a clear and objective manner. The course is designed around a series of exercises and case studies that will allow participants to practice and receive feedback on skill development. Recommended prerequisite: Investigative Interviewing and Investigative Skills and Processes or equivalent experience.
