Awards, Bursaries and Scholarships
Indigenous student awards, bursaries and scholarships are available to Indigenous students. To self-identify, indicate your status on your JIBC application form.
Contact the Registration Office if you didn't identify yourself when you registered and would like to change your status.
External awards are also available.
Indigenous Emergency Assistance Funding
The Ministry of Advanced Education in BC created the Aboriginal Emergency Assistance Funding initiative to improve post-secondary opportunities and outcomes for First Nations, Metis and Inuit people.
It’s designed to relieve short-term financial difficulties, cannot be used to pay for tuition or books and is only available for consideration once all other financing options have been exhausted.
Funding is available only to Indigenous students enrolled in a JIBC program who need financial assistance for unexpected expenses.
The funding you receive is based on individual needs and determined when you meet with an Indigenous Advisor and a Financial Aid Advisor.
