Jordan brings a strong educational background in paramedicine as well as teaching and facilitating experience from Australia, UK and BC to the program. Following completion of a Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) from Charles Sturt University, Jordan completed further studies to obtain a Graduate Diploma of Critical Care Paramedicine.
We asked Jordan to introduce himself:
My name is Jordan Neaves, for the last 7 years I have been an Advanced Care Paramedic in QLD Australia, working in both metropolitan and rural remote single officer regions. I often work in the expedition space and remote austere environments. Prior to this I spent 6 years in the Australian army as an infantry soldier deploying on peacekeeping operations twice.
Why did you choose to get involved in the education of Advanced Care Paramedics at JIBC?
I have always thoroughly enjoyed passing on my knowledge to the next generation of clinician and working as an educator forces me to constantly be researching best practice techniques, which is such an important part of our profession as paramedics.
What do you feel that you bring to the Advanced Care Paramedic program at JIBC?
I feel like I bring a different perspective on being a pre-hospital clinician that isn’t often seen here in BC as I try to show people there are many ways to be a paramedic and that there are multiple different career pathways outside of a state-based ambulance service.
Why should students choose the JIBC ACP program over other programs?
JIBC is one of the largest educators in the country and it is easily the best equipped and resourced to set students up for success in their careers as paramedics. The JI is also on the forefront of developing one of the most comprehensive and current ACP programs in the country.
