About the speaker: Dr. Alana Abramson is a full-time faculty member in the Criminology Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and instructor in trauma informed practice and leadership with the JIBC. Active with BC Bereavement Helpline, she runs traumatic loss support groups, engages in violence prevention with formerly incarcerated individuals, and serves on the board of the Restorative Justice Association of British Columbia. With experience in restorative justice since 1999, Alana is a passionate advocate of transformative justice, dedicated to promoting social change by amplifying the voices of those most impacted by crime and harm. In 2017, she received the Restorative Justice Award from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General of British Columbia.
