About the Event
All staff, faculty and students are invited to attend the flag-raising ceremonies for the Moose Hide Campaign at New Westminster and Maple Ridge campuses on Monday, May 13.
The ceremonies will be held at:
- 10 a.m. – New Westminster campus (flagpoles by the courtyard), led by Elder Phillip Gladue
- 1 p.m. – Maple Ridge campus, led by Elder Ken Pruden
The Moose Hide Campaign started more than 10 years ago in B.C. as an Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in a conscious effort to end violence towards women and children.
Since then, it has grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians – from local communities, First Nations, governments, schools, post-secondary institutions, police forces and other organizations – all committed to taking action to end this violence.
Wearing the moose hide pin signifies you are taking a stand against domestic and gender-based violence. Moose hide pins are available at the JIBC Library and security desk in the Atrium.
Come show your support for this important and impactful campaign!
