Badges are digital indicators of accomplishment or skill that can be displayed, accessed, and verified online on digital platforms (e.g., LinkedIn). Badges contain embedded data such as: where and when they were earned, and the competencies assessed.
Badges are issued upon the successful completion of micro-credential programs.
Badges can be downloaded and shared digitally to inform others about your accomplishment. Some ways to share your badge include social media (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter), your resume and your email signature.
You will receive an email from JIBC approximately 6-8 weeks after you have completed your program. Note that we must finish grading all of your program courses before your badge can be issued.
Unfortunately, we are unable to expedite the issuing of badges. Students who require a form of recognition for completing their program can download an unofficial transcript from their Self-Service account. However, please note that your transcript will not update until all your classes have been graded and we have confirmed your graduation in our system.
The email regarding your badge will be received to the email address JIBC has on record – students are asked to please ensure their email address is kept up to date. Please also check your spam or junk mail folder. If you have confirmed that JIBC has the correct email address, but you have still not received the email about your badge, please contact info@jibc.ca.
To download your badge, click “Download” in the email you received. This will automatically download your badge from the web to your device.
You can also click "Go to the Badge" and create an account. You can create an account with an existing account (e.g., LinkedIn) or use your email address.
From your account, go to your Backpack to view your badge.
You can share it to social media, with a link, or using html.
If you already have a Canvas Badges account with the same email address, you may sign into your account and go to your Backpack to view and share your new badge.
If you have many badges, once logged in you may click "Select Space" and choose the organization that has issued the badge. Only your badges from that organization will display in the My Badges area.
Yes, you can login to your Canvas account and download your badge multiple times or retrieve sharing links as required.
Please contact info@jibc.ca.
Please report your duplicate badges to info@jibc.ca.
If your badge says it has been “revoked,” then it is no longer valid. In some instances, a badge can be revoked if it was awarded through administrative error. If you believe you have had a badge revoked in error, please contact info@jibc.ca.
