Course Details

This course provides students with an overview of Family Justice Services Division (Ministry of Attorney General) and the knowledge and skills required for working effectively in their new position. It describes the evolution of family justice services in B.C., provides an overview of legislation and policy related to separation and divorce, and details the organization and delivery of services across the province. Students will learn about the principles and values that guide service delivery, ethical approaches to working with families and colleagues, and professional and personal strategies for advancing Truth and Reconciliation. Lastly, it will touch upon how students can take care of themselves when doing this work and how to contribute to a respectful workplace.
