Course Details

This course provides a high level overview of the purpose and benefits of business continuity management. It describes the steps involved in developing a business continuity plan. The course explains the importance of communicating and exercising a business continuity plan. EMRG-1170 designed for those who may be new to the field of business continuity and are seeking an introduction. In particular, this course will be of interest to anyone who is seeking to introduce business continuity within their organization.

Instructor-Led Online Offering (requires active student engagement) This instructor-led online course requires weekly participation and active engagement from students. Group discussion boards, exercises and activities provide the opportunity to engage with your fellow peers in the online Blackboard platform. Completion of these tasks are required to be successful in the course. You will be able to work at your own pace in order to meet the weekly course requirements. Students should be prepared to spend approximately 3.5 hours a week on this course. Students must complete all course requirements prior to the end date of the course. No extensions will be granted.

Students can access their online courses through myJIBC.ca (courses will be available on the start date of the course.)

Other Details: EMRG-1170 is a required course in the Emergency Management Certificate Program and an elective option in the Emergency Management Exercise Design Program. All Emergency Management Division courses require 100% attendance.
