Course Details
Acquire the skills and knowledge required of an Information Officer working at an emergency site or at a site support facility. Learn how to write key messages and media releases; communicate effectively with the public, media, and internal stakeholders; and utilize a variety of communication media. This interactive 14-hour course is available online or in a classroom-based format. It features applied scenarios and activities and includes an exam.
Instructor-Led Online
This online course is structured with weekly deadlines to keep learners on track and engaged in a fast-paced, interactive learning environment. Students are expected to participate actively in discussion boards, collaborate with peers, and complete assignments on a set schedule, ensuring steady progress throughout the course. All course assessments and activities must be completed to successfully pass this course.
In-Class
In a classroom setting, this course is offered over two days. In addition to the scheduled public offerings, this course is available to organizations on a contract basis.

Other Details
EMRG-1334 is a required course in the Associate Certificate in Emergency Management.
It can also be used as an equivalent to EMRG-1524 in the Micro-Credential in Crisis Communications.
