Course Details

Custody and Supervision provides practical knowledge and skills for community and custody youth probation officers regarding custodial youth sentences. Specific topics include types of custodial sentences, reintegration leave, release planning, supervision in the community, and sentence calculation. Relevant legislation and policy are emphasized with respect to each youth custodial sentence as well as the elements and functions of each sentence. The role of the youth probation officer is explained in regard to the topics covered. This 7-hour course is only available to Ministry of Children and Family Development employees, as identified in the Youth Probation Training Plan.
