Rix Family Foundation Entrance Award Full-Time Studies

The Rix Family Foundation Entrance Award for full-time students, established in 2023, is funded by The Rix Family Foundation Endowment held by The JIBC Foundation, which provides financial support for JIBC students through awards. This is a merit-based award to support students who demonstrate academic excellence and have goals to become leaders in public safety careers.
Value

Three awards available annually of $2,000 per year for a maximum of two years.

Eligibility Criteria 

To be eligible for the full-time Entrance Award students must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status.

  • Be entering an eligible full-time degree or diploma program of 60 credits or more.

  • Be entering JIBC as a full-time student (60% course load as per definition of Canada Student Loan program).

  • Demonstrate academic excellence as per the GPA on the transcript submitted for admission.

  • Provide a personal statement on how JIBC courses will contribute toward your goal of a career in public safety (maximum 250 words).

 To receive the award in the second‐year students must:

  • Demonstrate academic excellence as per the annual GPA; and

  • Continue as a full‐time student.
