1. OFFICIAL ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS:
JIBC Admissions will only consider the following transcript documents as an official:
- Hard copy/paper copy transcript that is printed/signed/stamped by the institution or by the provincial Ministry of Education*. This can be mailed to our New Westminster campus Student Services office – see address indicated above.
Note: we cannot accept photocopied transcripts – these are not considered official.
- Electronic transcript copy that is emailed directly to admissions@jibc.ca by the institution’s administrative office, or by the provincial Ministry of Education*.
Note: we cannot accept transcripts emailed to JIBC Admissions by the applicant – these are not considered official.
* To order BC high school transcripts online, please use the transcript links and resources provided by Education Planner BC, or go directly to the BC Ministry Education online transcript request service.
IMPORTANT:
After selecting "Justice Institute of BC" from the Available Institutions list on the online Ministry transcript request, you will be asked to select a Send Option:
If you have not yet graduated from high school OR you plan to enroll in a high school course upgrade, please select the following send option:
"Send my transcript now and allow this Post-Secondary Institution to request transcript updates until the date specified below"'
- the "Send updates until" date should default to 1 year from the transcript request date
- please do not change this date or JIBC Admissions may not be able to request your final grades and graduation confirmation
If you have already graduated from high school and you do not plan to enroll in any high school course upgrades, you may select the following send option:
"Send my transcript electronically now"
- this option does not allow JIBC Admissions to request transcript updates
Current BC High School students may send up to 25 transcripts free of charge to BC Post-Secondary Institutions. After this, a fee of $10.00 per transcript will apply. Once your order/payment has been confirmed, your electronic transcript should reach JIBC Admissions within 24h.
2. CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK REPORT:
Please refer to your program’s information web page to determine what types of criminal record checks (CRCs) will be accepted for your application. Not all programs accept RCMP or local Police Department record checks.
Emailed scans of CRC reports will not be accepted. Please arrange to submit the original hard copy CRC report, with original stamps/authorization signatures, as given to you by the police detachment. These can be mailed to the address indicated above.
3. LETTERS OF REFERENCE:
Please refer to your program’s information web page for more information on the specific reference letter requirements for your program.
Emailed letters of reference are acceptable, provided they are submitted directly to admissions@jibc.ca by the reference-provider her/himself. Letters of reference emailed to JIBC Admissions by the applicant her/himself will not be considered to be official/confidential.
Letters of Reference mailed to JIBC Admissions by the applicant or the reference-provider should be in a sealed envelope with the reference-provider’s signature across the seal, then enclosed in an outer envelope to keep the reference-provider’s signature secure.

Foreign academic credentials may require a review process to determine the comparable levels of BC and Canadian secondary and post-secondary education. Applicants submitting foreign credentials or transcripts as proof of pre-requisite completion towards a course or entrance requirements to a program may be required to submit their credentials or transcripts reviewed by either of the following bodies:
o International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES)
o World Education Services (WES)
Both ICES and WES will provide applicants with documentation which can then be forwarded to the JIBC as part of a program application along with the official transcripts.
